Household Holding Tanks – What You Need to Know
A holding tank differs from a septic system in that it contains your wastewater, but there is no attached weeping field to absorb effluent. Once your tank is full, it must be emptied promptly. The frequency at which the tank should be emptied depends on the amount of water used in your household (showers, dishwasher, toilets etc.) and the capacity of your tank.
Every holding tank should be equipped with two alarms to prevent over-filling—one visual and one audible. To be on the safe side, you should periodically perform your own visual inspections to see where the level is at. When it's time for pump-out, contact us Monday through Friday.
